Best of North India Tour

Day 01:Arrival at Delhi
Designed to avail an enchanting experience of traveling in India, Best of North India Tour takes one on a ride of the eclectic cities of north India.  As you arrive at the Delhi international airport you will be given a traditional welcome with garlands.  Our GeTS Holidays representative will then drive you to Hotel Le Meridian booked for your stay in the national capital.  On arrival relish your welcome drinks as our representative gives you a brief of your North India tour which starts the next morning.  You could also  mingle with other fellow travelers with whom you will be sharing a fabulous experience of North India tour, unless your flight arrives late at night.

Day 02: At Delhi
The breakfast in the hotel will be followed by a sightseeing tour which will take you through both Old and New facades of the capital city. Accompanied with our expert English speaking guide you will begin the city tour with a visit to the famous monuments of Old Delhi. First visit the majestic Red Fort; a significant landmark, this red sandstone edifice has made city proud by making its place in UNESCO World Heritage Sites List.  Also, visit the largest mosque in India, Jama Masjid; climb its minaret to enjoy an absolutely captivating sight of posh New Delhi evolving from the end of Old Delhi’s narrow lanes.  In the same vicinity you can shop for some exquisite saris and gorge upon delectable kebabs in Chandni Chowk market. The best way to traverse the undulated lanes of this bustling market is through a rickshaw ride.

Day 3: Delhi - Varanasi (By Air)

Today post breakfast our representative will escort you to the domestic airport where you will board the flight to reach Varanasi.  On arrival in the city check in the hotel.  Later in the afternoon you will take a small trip to Sarnath, located at a distance of 10 kms Sarnath is famed for being the place where Lord Buddha gave his first sermon to the holy men.  You will get to see lots of sculptures and religious places of Buddhist significance which includes 110 ft tall Dhamekh Stupa, Archaeological Museum and Ashoka Pillar with 4 lions carved on the top.  Return to the hotel by evening and stay overnight.

Day 04: At Varanasi

The day at Varanasi begins with a yoga and meditation session with one of the renowned Yoga gurus in Varansi followed by a serene boat ride on the holy river Ganges.  Return to the hotel for lunch and a short siesta followed by a sightseeing tour of the city along with our local English speaking guide.  Taking you around the religious sites he will explain you their significance and all the folk stories. 
As part of your North India tour you will also visit the religious banks of river Ganges called Ghats which houses numerous temples of the city.  Visit the Bharat Mata Temple dedicated to Mother India and various other beautiful temples such as Kashi Vishwanath Temple, Durga Temple. 

Take part in evening ritual offering to River Ganges called Aarti. The thousands of diyas (small earthen lamps) offered to river Ganges by the devotees glistens the river and the chanting of holy mantras in the backdrop creates a celestial ambiance. Return to the hotel in the evening for overnight stay; also enjoy a folk dance show performance here.

Day 05: Varanasi - Khajuraho

Early morning would a yoga and a meditation session by a famous guru followed by breakfast at the hotel. Post breakfast guests will be driven to the airport where our GeTS Holidays representative will help you checking in  for your comfortable flight to Khajuraho.  On arrival at Khajuraho you will be transferred to the hotel .

Situated in central India, Khajuraho is the famed city of temples. It is known for its erotic sculptures which were the inspiration for the famous ‘Kamasutra’.  On this day you will begin your temple tour in North India by visiting the Eastern and Western Group of temples here.  These temples are renowned UNESCO World Heritage Site and are adorned with exquisite erotic carvings outside and inside with fabulous architecture singing saga of magnificent craftsmanship during Chandela dynasty in the 9th century.  Enjoy evening with a light and sound show in temple premises.  The light and sound show at Khujrao is one of the best in the country.

Day 06: Khajuraho - Agra

After breakfast proceed for Jhansi. En route visit the village settings of Orchha.  A river rafting experience at Betwa River with the backdrop of century old magnificent temples and forts is one of a kind in the world. Picnic lunch would be served at the banks of the river and  Thereafter proceed towards railway station in Jhansi from where you will board the train to Agra.  On arrival guests will be welcomed very warmly by our English speaking guide he will then escort them to the hotel booked for their stay in the city of legendary Taj Mahal.  Enjoy your leisure time at the hotel constructively and indulge in a session with the head chef who will teach you some easy and quick ways to prepare that delicious Indian curry.  Recipe would be given to you so you can make the same dishes back home.

Day 07: Agra

The city of Agra has given various reasons to the world to wonder.  Its captivating sites dating back to Mughal era are reminiscent of glory, opulence and elite craftsmanship prevailing in ancient India.  Your day starts off with a morning visit to magnificent Agra Fort a UNESCO World Heritage Site this gorgeous fort is an erstwhile residence of great Mughal emperors. Relive the regal opulence at Itmad- ud- Daulah’s Tomb which is also referred as ‘jewel box’ due to its stunning structure and gorgeous gardens.

We at GeTS Holidays plan our trips in such a way that our guests get to experience the very best. Thus we make sure our guests visit Taj Mahal at the best time which is in the full moon night.   Special permissions are arranged to visit the eternal emblem of love Taj Mahal, a world wonder in the moonlit night when it looks most pristine and heavenly (subject to availability). 

After enjoying a dose of opulence and grandeur guests will retire to their rooms in the hotel for overnight stay.

Day 08: Agra - Jaipur

Day begins with your preferred Yoga and meditation session. Today you will drive towards Jaipur, the pink city of Rajasthan. On the way to Jaipur you will visit Fatehpur Sikri. Stay for an hour and explore the Panch Mahal, Buland Darwaja, and Dargah of Sheikh Salim Chisti. Though it is a deserted town now yet the architectural monuments tell the story of a lavish bygone era of Mughals in the region.

You will then resume your drive to Jaipur and upon arrival stay in a beautiful heritage hotel. Dinner will be a great experience today as guests are taken to Chokhi Dhani –a resort with ethnic village settings.  It is famed for its Indian and Rajasthani cuisines served amidst a village setting with live music, folk dances, puppet shows and more.

Day 09: At Jaipur

Your day begins early, after breakfast climb the hilltop Amer fort on elephant back. It is an awesome experience entering the fort the way maharajas did on top of an Elephant. It’s a memory that will stay with you for a long time. Explore the stunning fort  and then proceed for city sightseeing.
Enjoy an elephant ride at Amber Fort while exploring the fabulous premises of the giant fortress. Continue your sightseeing tour visiting the Hawa Mahal next; situated on a bustling street this giant structure with numerous beautiful windows was originally built for royal ladies to watch daily processions.  Moving further with the tour of the city you will visit Jantar Mantar which is a royal observatory built nearly three hundred years ago.  The palace complex of City Palace situated in the Pink City is one of the most revered palace complexes in the world.    
You will discover the architectural brilliance of the Rajasthani artists. Today you will also visit the famous shopping centers and bazaars of Jaipur for Rajasthani handicrafts and souvenirs.  

 
For dinner we would take you to the local turban museum called Surabhi. Enjoy your Rajasthani dinner while experiencing the folk colors in the form of traditional dance and music performances. Stay overnight at the hotel after enjoying a sumptuous Indian dinner.

Day 10: Jaipur - Delhi

Your Best of North India Tour itinerary will next take you back to the national capital city today. Begin the day with your scheduled Yoga and meditation session first.  Later enroute to Delhi visit the elegant Neemrana Fort. It  is India’s oldest heritage resorts and commands breathtaking views of the surrounding vistas.  Relish your lunch here and resume your journey.

Back at Delhi get dropped at the airport for your flight home. At a nominal extra cost a room for freshening up can be arranged for our guests who have a late night flight. We are sure the memoirs of the tour will linger in your mind forever as you board your flight back to your hometown.
